Robert Gardiner of the Avery Supply Company, Boston, was a leading light in the plans of the St. Andrews Land Company and the Algonquin Hotel. He built a cottage next to the Algonquin which, much expanded, is still in existence. Charlotte County Archives

The Land Company added an annex to the Algonquin in 1894. seen here to the left. This required a loan from the CPR which the Company eventually defaulted on. Charlottte County Archives
